Dec 6 "Adventures in Going Nowhere" Speakers: Rev. Kent McKusick [Zoom 70+ Connections]
11am Board Welcome: Angie Poole
Facilitators: Sarah Carlson
Special Music: Barb Evenson, harp
Many have found unexpected richness and growth in stillness.
In this age of chaos, separation, and virtual connectedness,
staying in one place may offer a more exciting prospect and a
greater necessity than ever before. It could be possible that
contemplating internal landscapes can be just as rich an
experience as traveling through external ones.
Dec 13 "These Times of Transition" Speakers: Rev. Kent McKusick [Zoom 84+ Connections]
11am Board Welcome: Rev. Kent McKusick
Facilitators: Erin Pederson
As solstice and the returning light approach, we are also
making the transition from one fiscal year to the next. The
relationship in these transitions is not be immediately clear.
Both the darkness of winter and the end of a year offer the
gifts of stillness, reflection, and coming face to face with
who we are as individuals and as a Fellowship. Both offer the
gift of a new beginning.
[Short Service followed by Short Annual Meeting]
Dec 20 "An Adequate Christmas" Speakers: Matthew Pargeter-Villarreal [Zoom 75+ Connections]
11am Board Welcome: Melissa Niesen
Facilitators: Amy Slagell, Kent McKusick
Christmas is a time of wonder for so many people, but it can
be a source of anxiety for others--especially having to
navigate the complicated world of family dynamics. With
everything made even more uncertain by the COVID-19 pandemic,
join Matthew Pargeter-Villarreal as we take a collective
breath and envision ways to not necessarily have an amazing
Christmas holiday, but at least an adequate one that will help
us find the peace and joy that we need.
Dec 24 "A Holy Stillness" Speakers: Rev. Kent McKusick [Zoom 36+ Connections]
5pm Facilitators: Ralph Gandy
Please join us for a traditional Christmas service with
seasonal music, carols, holiday readings, and a UU perspective
on the birth of Jesus.
Dec 27 "An Inner Whisper" Speakers: Rev. Kent McKusick [Zoom 67+ Connections]
11am Board Welcome: Chris McClure
Facilitators: Jane Runneals, Dan Haug
In poetry and prose, John O'Donohue describes our inner voice
as the voice that disrupts the status quo. In times when
tenderness feels lost, our inner voice can whisper the truth
that invites us back to dignity, respect, beauty, and love.
As we close out this year of pandemic, you are invited into
stillness and listening.

Jan 3 "Wild Imagination" Speakers: Rev. Kent McKusick [Zoom 76+ Connections]
11am Board Welcome: Rev. Kent McKusick
Facilitators: Amy Slagell, Ralph Gandy
We begin this new year with the theme of imagination. Geneen
Marie Haugen suggests that one antidote to the colonization of
the mind is the wild imagination. She believes that the
imagination may be at least part of an essential navigation
strategy for our times of multiple crises and ecological
peril. Has it ever been otherwise? This service is an
invitation to begin 2021 in the spirit of imagining the year
to come!
Jan 10 "When Pretending Comes Speakers: Rev. Kent McKusick [Zoom 84+ Connections]
11am in Handy" Board Welcome: Sarah Carlson
Facilitators: Sarah Carlson
Imagining a post-pandemic future can be daunting. As humans,
we tend to envision negative scenarios. In order to get
through these challenging days, we need to be able to imagine
something other than loss or the 10-month status quo. How
might the capacity of imagination be utilized for positive
change?
Jan 17 "Shaping Change Speakers: Rev. Kent McKusick [Zoom 78+ Connections]
11am Changing Worlds" Board Welcome: Matthew Jacobsob-Fisher (They, She)
Facilitators: Nichole Ose
Shaping Change, Changing Worlds ~ Adrienne Maree Brown writes:
"Science fiction is simply a way to practice the future
together. I suspect that is what many of you are up to,
practicing futures together, practicing justice together,
living into new stories. It is our right and responsibility to
create a new world." How might her "emergent strategy" shift
us towards a more imaginative and liberated world.
Jan 24 "Imagining Community" Speakers: SMSC
11am Board Welcome:
Facilitators: Amy Slagell, Dan Haug, Jane Runneals, Ralph Gandy
Jan 31 "Rebellious Imagination" Speakers: Rev. Kent McKusick
11am Board Welcome:
Facilitators: Jane Runneals
In The Impossible Will Take a Little While, Paul Rogat Loeb
describes imagination as a form of generosity that can free us
from a bleak present. Our imagination can give us a glimpse of
a future that our more rational mind may deem impossible to
achieve. How might the rebelliousness of a wild heart change
the world?

Feb 7 "Spiritual Practices for Speakers: Rev. Kent McKusick
11am White Discomfort" Board Welcome:
Facilitators: Sarah Carlson
When Black Lives Matters activities are reported in the news,
white people react in a number of ways, from vocal, undaunted
support to blatant racist thoughts or rants. Sometimes, the
general feeling is discomfort. The Rev. Annie Gonzalez
Milliken has developed a set of spiritual practices to help
white people decenter our egos, learn, grow, and be faithful
to our values while supporting racial justice.
Feb 14 "Othering and Belonging" Speakers: Rev. Kent McKusick
11am Board Welcome:
Facilitators: Nichole Ose
In Unitarian Universalism, the Rev. Darrick Jackson has found
a theological home that does not speak to his black identity.
Hear part of his story and consider what kind of changes are
needed for us to be radically welcoming and part of the
beloved community.

Feb 28 "The UU 8th Principle" Speakers: Rev. Kent McKusick
11am Board Welcome:
Facilitators: Ralph Gandy
Generosity:
As a community of faith, we come together from many different
paths and faith experiences to affirm and promote our shared
commitment to the seven principles of Unitarian Universalism.
Many UU's contend that the absence of racism and other
oppressions in our principles is a glaring omission. The most
recent crises in the UU world have been related to race and
racism. A proposed 8th Principle will promote and guide our
transformation as an anti-racist, multi-cultural faith
tradition. This service is dedicated to the foundation and
need to amend the UU Principles.
